Art of Application

I love how blusher can transform the complexion. Depending on the shade, formula and application it can make you look rosy, sweet, seductive or bronzed.

Here’s some tips on how to make the most from your powder blusher and create a natural looking flush of colour.

Throw away the brush that comes with it. Compact brushes are too stiff and small to create a natural look, they often pick up too much product and aren’t soft enough for blending. Treat yourself to a good blusher brush.

Look into the mirror and give yourself a big smile -  notice where the apple of your cheek appears.

Dip your blusher brush into the powder and shake off any excess product. Sweep the brush lightly over the apple of the cheek, moving up towards the ear, with short, vertical movements.

Blend the blusher in with one soft horizontal stroke on top of the vertical strokes, and blot a tissue on top to remove the excess. Those with oily skin may wish to add a light cover of powder to set it and keep the makeup in place.

If you’re feeling a bit peaky and washed out, try gently brushing a light stroke of blusher across your forehead, next to the hairline or just above the brows where the sun would hit your face. Keep it subtle.
