Whilst spring make-up is going to be all sheer foundations, dewy skin and glossy complexions, Autumn and Winter is going to be very different.

At the Balmain fashion show in Paris yesterday, models sported healthy yet matte and slightly chalky bases as they strolled down the catwalk. The face was still fairly bare, with just a hint of pink-peach colouring on the cheeks and dusty lips offset with deep mascara and a subtly metallic eye.

It looks like emphasis will be on the hair; slightly wild and unkempt in natural earthy hues. Think big curls brushed out and back combed.

It is a fierce counterpart to the girlish, flirty spring looks we’ll be seeing in the next few months and I think it will be a welcome change when next winter rolls around.
