Boytox

Over the last few years the number of men queuing up to get botox has sharply risen.  In the states many believe that it has become almost necessary in order to get a job in today’s market. Terms like ‘manscaping’ and ‘youthanising’ have been created to describe the need to look young, fresh and energetic in order to secure the career you want.

300,000 American men undergo the syringe every six weeks and there has been a reported 30% rise in what has been nicknamed ‘boytox’ since November alone.

It probably doesn’t come as a big surprise that male celebrities are a fan of the muscle freezing injections, with Simon Cowell admitting to ‘being done’ – “Yes, I’ve had Botox, but not in an obsessive way. Every guy I know who works in the City has had it; it’s no more unusual than toothpaste.”

I can’t help but think that is a scary and alarming statement. When injecting ourselves with muscle paralyzing poison becomes the norm, isn’t something wrong?
