News is that pop singer Avril Lavigne is, among with half of Hollywood, launching a new fragrance called ‘Black Star’. She wrote on her blog:

“I’m traveling to London next week where I’m about to announce my latest project ………. my very first fragrance! I’m really excited and can’t wait to share it with you. It will be available across Europe this summer, and soon in the US and Canada. It has been a pretty cool experience. It’s so me in a bottle….hahaha! I love the packaging. I wanted to let you guys know the name first … so…..(drum roll please)…….hahah….. The name is ‘Black Star’!”

I’m really not a fan of celebrity scents. It doesn’t really matter how they smell, probably some of them are actually quite nice.

The fact is though, that I take pride in my perfume. I like to smell good, yes, but I also like to be able to hold my head high when people ask me what I’m wearing. I often go with fragrances from design houses – there’s something so wonderful about knowing that I’m wearing John Galliano or Michael Kors. I don’t think you can really get that same feeling from Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. Where is the sense of creativity and craftsmanship?
