Chubby Cheeks
Have you ever noticed that thinner people seem to develop wrinkles and look older than the rest of us? As we age, the fat on our face starts to disappear causing skin sagging and loss of fullness. Some decide to counteract this with injectable fillers. Pushed under the skin fillers help to fix those wrinkles from nasolabial folds and deep lines. However fillers do have downsides. Despite the high price tag they are only temporary and results can look stiff and very unnatural.
However, recent research on peptides may have discovered a new solution for age-related facial fat loss.
Research from The Lawrence Berkely National Laboratory, have discovered an injectable peptide which can help stimulate the growth of fat under the skin; plumping it up and smoothing out wrinkles.
The peptide under discussion modulates behavior of the RHAMM protein, which can influence creation of fat cells – replacing cells lost due to the natural aging process. Scientists are still in the process of testing the effects and trying to control them. There are also talks of delivering the peptides through creams, so no injections will be necessary.
Research is still in the relatively early stages, it could be around 5 years before we see this research in a usable format.
