Dark Times

A new study from Superdrug claims that blonde women are choosing darker hair colours in the face of the recession. The thought is that blondes don’t get taken as seriously in the workplace and, due to fears of redundancy, are choosing a more ‘sensible’ colour.

According to the report, around 62% of people think that brunettes are more professional than blondes and 38% of light-haired women feel that their hair colour has held them back in their career at some point.

38 percent of blonde haired women have turned brunette during the recession and I admit that I am one of them! Six months ago I had pale blonde locks and I am now a dark auburn shade. However, whilst my hair change was spurred by the recession it was not down to fears of redundancy. Rather, blonde hair is expensive to keep looking healthy and maintain the colour… particularly during an economic downturn.

I wonder if Superdrug took that in to consideration?
