Salt of the Earth

If you love your salty snacks but worry about how healthy it is, you’ll be interested to hear that new research shows that salt is good for you after all. Researchers at the University of Iowa found that salt may in fact work as a natural antidepressant. They tested the theory on lab rats and found that the rats with a salt deficiency became complacent and retired from activities they usually enjoyed – a sign of depression.

Don’t forget though, salt can still lead to high blood pressure which may result in a heart attack or stroke. So keep it in moderation.
