Liquorice may well be the next big thing in skincare.

The extract is said to contain several active compounds and has several properties which would be of benefit to the skin, including anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial (disinfectant) properties. This is down to an active compound called glycyrrhetinic acid.

The liquorice extract has a purifying effect on the complexion and can counteract allergic reactions brought on through cosmetics.

Fenchem, the company that has launched the extract, says that it will be ideal for a wide range of beauty products including creams, masks and cleansers. Watch this space!
