Fashionable Fat
Kate Moss was rumoured to be pregnant for a few months, but admitted that in fact the supermodel had just put on a little weight. The model, famous for sporting ‘heroin chic’ and the waif look of the early nineties is still very petite but has some critics calling her fat.
Giles Hattersly at The Times claims that her new look is a symbol of the times, saying that fat is now fashionable due to the economic downturn.
The theory is that unhealthy food is cheaper and also acts as a comfort when we feel anxious with money troubles.
It is an interesting idea, but I can’t help feeling that Moss’ extra few pounds is more down to her becoming a middle aged woman than the fact she has switched her diet to chips and fish fingers to save cash.
