Staying Power

Perfume isn’t the most affordable beauty product, particularly if you choose good blends and quality names. So, it makes sense that you want the fragrance you spritz yourself with to last a bit longer than the time it takes to put your makeup on. Most of us think that the more you spray the longer it will last, but this is actually wrong and a costly option. Quit the over-zealous application and follow my tips to make your perfume last longer. Read on to find out more…

Potency – Choose a higher quality, more concentrated formula, i.e. Eau de parfum over eau de toilette or eau de cologne. It may be more expensive, but it has a higher percentage of essential oils, meaning you need to use a lot less.

Don’t Rub -  Dabbing your wrists together after spraying on perfume alters the chemical structure of the fragrance so that it does not develop as it should.

Moisturise – Fragrances don’t take to dry skin much. Give it a chance and apply a touch of petroleum jelly, jojoba oil, or an unscented lotion before spraying.

Layer – Take advantage of the matching scented soaps, body gels and creams which your perfume brand stocks.

Care – Store perfumes in the box and away from windows and heat to prevent it from going stale. Keeping it in a cool, dry area will make the fragrance stay true to it’s scent for longer.
