Water Water Everywhere
We’ve heard it all before, everytime we look at a health magazine or read some beauty tips it is all the same – drink lots of water. However, this ‘fact’ for healthy skin is quite divided, with many professionals and doctors claiming that in fact we are all hydrated enough and there is in fact no proof that drinking more water will improve our health or our skin.
However, on a recent American programme called Food Detectives, the TV show gave two identical twins a test. One twin drank the appropriate levels of water for a week, the other drank half that amount. By the end of the week, the twin who had been drinking up had glowing and clear skin which rivalled her sister.
Drinking water really is a great way to care for your skin – not to mention cheap!
The old saying that you must have 8 glasses of water per day is not true either. There’s no reason why a slim teen should drink the same amount as a muscular thirty year old. Instead, divide your weight in pounds by two. The number you are left with is how many fluid ounces of water you need to get through each day.
Remember, caffeinated drinks don’t count as they are diuretic and will, in the long term, leave you dehydrated.
