Safety First

Many people rely on the sun protection factor in our makeup and foundation to keep our skin safe during the day. However, The Daily Mail has reported that one fifth of cosmetics with SPF isn’t up to EU sunscreen standards and doesn’t actually give any protection against UVA rays which are responsible for aging.

Researchers also found that a whopping three out of four products weren’t completely effective just two hours after application — meaning that if you put your foundation on first thing in the morning it would hardly even last till work started.

To get optimum protection you would need to reapply your foundation four times in the course of a normal workday which is hardly practical.

Will you be ditching your SPF foundation for some real sunscreen from now on?
