Adding Up

How much do you spend on beauty every year? The Daily Mail has reported on a woman who spends on average £4000 on her looks each year.

As well as splashing the cash on the usual everyday things (haircuts, makeup, skincare), this beauty junkie also goes on a yearly spa break, has teeth whitening and pricey yoga classes. The final sum sounds like a lot, but when you see the costs broken down you can see how it all adds up.

It can’t be denied that the average woman spends a lot on skincare, but the point is not to spend less particularly but make sure you are spending it on the right things. Invest in good quality skincare, rather than a range of jars and potions which do nothing for you and your money will go a lot further as you won’t be tempted in to buying new products before you’re ready.

If you’re trying to cut back, then focus on the things that are important. Your skin will suffer if you stop using a good moisturiser and cleanser, but will anyone know any better if you do your manicure yourself? Likewise, those exercise classes should be top priority, but you can extend the time between haircuts by investing in a weekly conditioning mask to keep hair in good shape.
