Alexander McQueen is a favourite designer of mine and his runway shows are always spectacular. The makeup on these shows is always something to talk about too, but usually because it is so unworkable in the real world and crazy that it is just completely out there.

In his last show, there was futuristic sculpted hair and alien makeup, but there was something which made the fashionistas eyes sparkle with envy -the model’s nails.

The ultra long, fake nails were metallic; covered with bespoke Minx (metallic sheets which sit on the nail like stickers) in a range of designs made up to match the fabrics in the collection. Though the designs were hard to see from a distance, up close “they were beautiful,” said Allure beauty editor Victoria Kirby.
