Tanning Tax
Since the World Health Organization officially confirmed sun beds to be carcinogenic back in summer, everyone was made totally certain of the risks. More recently, the FDA in America warned against the dangers of ultraviolet exposure in its article, Indoor Tanning: The Risks of Ultraviolet Rays. This has got the American Senate talking.
Whilst some places think of banning tanning altogether, a potential tanning tax is being talked about by the Senate. Though it is only in the beginning stages of consideration, it would require an excise tax on tanning services, including sunlamps and tanning beds available for home purchase, as well as large salon booths.
I think this is a good idea and hope that the UK will follow. What do you think?
