Anyone even remotely involved in the fashion industry took a tough blow yesterday on hearing the news about designer Alexander McQueen’s death.

The designer has been a hugely influential part of the fashion scene, particularly in the last decade when his fame shot to unparalleled heights. He has been described a fashion genius, creating pieces which were truly unique and original.

Described as a shy man, his mentor Isabella Blow committed suicide three years ago and, with the added pressure of a fashion collection to be shown in the next three weeks, when his passed away last week it is thought to have been the final straw for Lee McQueen.

His talent will be truly missed.
