Naomi May Lose Work
Naomi Campbell’s involvement in the war crimes trial of Charles Taylor has thrust the case into the news headlines on a regular basis this summer. The case started back in 2003 but Naomi’s appearance has stirred a global interest.
The leggy supermodel admits to being given what she called “dirty stones”, but claims she did not know where they came from. More recently, her former agent accused her of lying, but her testimony has come in fire as she is currently suing Campbell over another matter.
Naomi may find that her career takes a hit after the case. Sally Morrison, the director of the Diamond Information Center, suggested that jewellers would want to avoid being associated with her.
“It might not be her fault, she might not have done anything wrong it might only be by association but working with her would be a step backward for the industry that has worked so hard to address the issue of conflict diamonds.”
Naomi has previously modeled for David Yurman, Cypriot brand Metaxas and and Graff Diamonds. Do you think her ties with jewellers should be cut?
