Beauty Sleep
A study in the British Medical Journal has found that the amount of sleep a person gets is directly related to how attractive he or she is seen as. It confirms everyone’s thoughts – that looking tired is not appealing!
Participants of the study were photographed on two occasions: after getting very little sleep and after getting a full night’s sleep. Another group of people then scored each person by how they looked in the images. The sleep-deprived photos made the subjects appear less healthy, less attractive, and not surprisingly more tired.
Dr. John Axelsson, who led the study, explained that lack of sleep overall causes changes within the body that can be witnessed in the face. “We propose that sleep is a cheap and effective beauty treatment, both acutely and in the long-term,” Axelsson told MSNBC.com.
