Fashion Fix – British Fashion Awards
The British Fashion Awards took place this week to celebrate and commemorate some of the biggest names in fashion. The British Fashion Council announced the nominations back in September, but only announced on the day of the awards that Lee Alexander McQueen would be given a special posthumous award too. McQueen was awarded with an Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design award at the ceremony in London.
A film created by Nick Knight and styled by Edward Enninful showed off some some of Lee’s most iconic pieces. Nick commented, “This film is my way of speaking about a very unique and important person who changed my life. My desire was to speak in some way about the dark and the light contained within Lee, and within us all.”
McQueen died earlier this year and his untimely death was seen as one of fashion’s great tragedies. BFC chairman Harold Tilman stated, “There was only one person we felt we could recognise with this award this year – Lee McQueen.”
