Hair and Mental Health
We’ve all had bad hair days and know how frustrating, and even embarrassing, they can be. Now it turns out that they’re also bad for our health. Model turned psychotherapist Vivian Diller, Ph.D, recently wrote an article for the Huffington Post about how a bad hair day can have a negative impact on your mental health.
According to Dr. Diller, “how we feel influences how we look and vice-versa,”. The way we look can also affect our personal, social, and professional lives.
Dr. Diller actually also talks about the role hair plays in our lives, from developmentally (thick, lush hair is considered a sign of good health and virility) to aesthetically (your hair is one of the top three features — after height and weight — that people use when describing you).
It’s a good excuse to book yourself into that fancy hair salon if ever I heard one!
