Quick Tip – Spot Treatment

If you ever find yourself with a spot cropping up and no treatment to tackle it, then head to your medicine cabinet. Crush some aspirin and mix with a bit of water to form a paste, before adding it to the problem area. Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory, so it calms down any redness. In addition, it is very similar to salicylic acid, so it  exfoliates skin and in turn prevents and reduces pimples.

Confident Thirties

A new survey has found that women in their thirties have more confidence than any other age group. A new found confidence hits in the mid-thirties and leads to increased self esteem based in style and image.

It is thought that this is because women suddenly find themselves with a strong sense of identity and begin to feel comfortable in their own skin, as well as figuring out what fashion styles suit their personalities and figures.

According to The Daily Mail, “one in three women grow more comfortable with their appearance the older they get, while three out of four think their style has improved over the years.”

Do you think this is true?

Zooey’s Beautiful Lengths

Zooey Deschanel has just been named Pantene’s new celebrity spokeswoman, but the actress will be doing something slightly different for the haircare brand. From August she’ll be representing the brand’s rereleased Beautiful Lengths collection. Part of the collection is a program which encourages women to donate their hair to create wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy. The products themselves focus on growing lengthy, healthy hair  which just so happens to be perfect for donation.

Quick Tip – Highlighter

Highlighter is a wonderful product. It can help contour the face by making areas such as cheekbones appear more pronounced, as well as create a dewy and youthful look. There’s one big rule when using highlighter though. Ensure that you look glowing and not shiny by making sure that you never apply it to the T-zone. You don’t want to look oily.

Beyonce’s DIY Beauty

Beyonce has always been known for her high maintenance style. She used to have an entourage of stylists, makeup artists and hairdressers to keep her beauty in check at all times. The singer has recently revelealed that she now takes a more laid back approach to beauty. In an interview with people magazine, she admitted to cutting her won hair saying “I recently cut two inches myself. I just parted it in the middle and snipped.”

She has also swapped her high heels for comfortable flat shoes, as she finds them easier to wear when she’s carrying her newborn baby. What do you think of Beyonce’s more relaxed approach to beauty?

Quick Tip – The Morning Cleanse

Many people skip a morning cleanse because they feel they don’t need to wash their face when all they’ve been doing is sleeping.

OK, so you haven’t been wearing makeup or been subjected to outdoors pollution but your skin still needs a good cleanse when you get up. Why? Because skin regenerates over night.

That means that every morning there’s a layer of dead skin cells lying on top of the fresh new skin cells underneath. By gently cleansing, you slough off these dead cells and revel the healthier brighter ones. This gives a glowing complexion and makes your moisturiser sink in better.

Forehead Acne

If you struggle with acne on your forehead and don’t know why, your hair could be to blame. If you have a fringe, the constant contact between the hair and skin means that oil from your scalp and also any styling products you use are being deposited onto the skin and causing spots.

The best way to stop this is of course to grow out your fringe, keeping it pinned back as you do so. But if you don’t want to do that then consider avoiding your fringe when you apply styling products. Need them on your fringe? Then apply to a brush first, then run the brush through the fringe. This makes sure you’re not overloading the hair. Also, consider using a dry shampoo on your fringe in between washes. It mops up oil and keeps the hair fresh.
