Viscontour Serum

Viscontour® Serum - Ultimate Moisturisation

Viscontour® Serum is a hydration agent that offers you a simple and convenient way of moisturising your skin. Applied topically (externally) at home, Viscontour® Serum works to help restore and sustain hydration. Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in all living organisms and is a universal component of the spaces between the cells of body tissues (the extracellular space). It is a polysaccharide (ie a complex carbohydrate made from sugar molecules) that has the same chemical structure no matter whether it is found in simple organisms or in human beings. Hyaluronic acid can retain 500 times its own volume of water, so swelling to plump out the skin and intensively hydrate it from within. This promotes synthesis of the connective tissue cells (generating collagen and elastin).

Viscontour® Serum is simple to use:

1. Apply Viscontour® Serum drop-by-drop from a sterile, single-use ampoule.

2. Massage Viscontour® Serum into your skin once a day, or more frequently, if necessary, prior to using your regular moisturising products.

Hyaluronic acid (HA), also known as hyaluronan, is a naturally occuring, polysaccharide consisting of linear chains of alternating D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues. It forms an important structural element in the skin and connective tissues. The domain structure of hyaluronan has interesting and important consequences.

Small molecules such as water, electrolytes and nutrients can freely diffuse through the solvent within the domain but large molecules, such as proteins, will be partially excluded because of their hydrodynamic sizes in solution.

The hyaluronan network in the area allows less space for other molecules the larger they are. In the normal human body, which weighs, say, around 70 kilos, there is about 15g of HA. Half of the mass is contained in the skin. A high content of HA is in the basal membrane and the papillary dermis.

The concentration of HA goes down in the recticular dermis. The absolute content of the HA in the epidermal cellular matrix is with 2-4 mg/ml; 10 times higher than in the dermis.

Years ago, HA in the epidermis was not mentioned, thinking that it was only in the dermal layer which is not true. HA performs a natural hydrating function within the dermis and in the epidermis, promoting the skin's suppleness. HA is not only a structure former but it also regulates cellular process. HA removes and clears noxious compounds from the epidermal layer. Healthy skin has a high HA content.
