Don't Stress Your Skin this Holiday Season

Christmas is nearly here, and while it is undoubtedly a wonderful time of the year, it can also be a little bit stressful. Whether you're in a mad rush to get the presents bought, or you're worrying about burning the turkey, it's all too easy to get flustered over Christmas time. However, it isn't just our mental stress which we have to worry about. There are a lot of stresses on our skin at this time of year too.

Cold weather, dry heating, consumption of alcohol and sugar, rich foods, and late nights... they all contribute to stressing out complexions out. The result? Angry, red skin by boxing day and just in time for the New Year's Eve party you've been looking forward to. While a little bit of skin stress is inevitable, there are plenty of ways to lessen the damage.

  • Drink water. Don't just rely on Buck's Fizz over the next two weeks! Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and keep your skin hydrated.
  • Use a richer moisturiser to combat dryness brought on by the weather and heating.
  • Use anti-oxidant serums to help fight against free radicals.
  • Be sensible with sugar and alcohol consumption - if you overdo it, it will show on your face.
  • Get eight hours of sleep every night... when you can. Take time to rest and recover. You will not only look better for it, you'll feel great too.
